Duhozanye, with the support of Kvinna till Kvinna, is implementing the Women Promoters of Accountability (WPA) project in Gisagara, Nyanza and Huye districts from 2020. This project aims at contributing to the eradication of GBV through the empowerment of women on effective participation in local decision-making and on the economic aspect.
Through this project, Duhozanye also wants that the women right holders of this project will have acquired skills on environmental issues, and best practices in order to contribute effectively to the protection of the environment and be able to cope with climate change.
It is with the above background, Duhozanye organized a 2-day training for staff and board members in October, 2022 on environment and climate change issues, in particular land degradation, l soil erosion and deforestation and related policies. After being trained, the knowledge and skills gained will be transferred to the project right holders in order to address the problem related to agriculture and food insecurity among them and the wider community who are affected, while the majority of rights holders in the DHZ program are primarily involved in agriculture.
