Duhozanye as women’s right organization established by widows of Genocide and Kvinna till Kvinna foundation focuses on supporting women in and after wars and conflict zones Rwanda inclusive. Since 2020, they are in partnership on implementation of Women Promoters of Accountability (WPA) Project. The expected impact of this project is to achieve equal participation of men and women in District plans and contribute to the GBV eradication. The project is being implemented in 3 Districts namely Gisagara, Nyanza and Huye. It intervenes in the following areas: Empowering women to advocate for the issues that are affecting them by using Community scorecard tool, Women economic empowerment, Provision of psychosocial support to GBV victims (teen mothers) and contribution to the family conflict resolution.

It is under this partnership with Kvinna till Kvinna (KtK) that its Secretary General Petra Totterman Andorff visited Duhozanye on the 26th September, 2022 accompanied by KtK Head of office Rwanda Bridget Rhinehart and other KtK staff. That was an important opportunity for the Secretary General to engage with some widows of Genocide members of Duhozanye in a group discussion.
The Legal representative of the Duhozanye and some other members gave their testimonies of after the genocide period and how now they are strengthened and empowered. The Secretary General was happy with the way they struggled to come out of those most fracturing and painful situations. Their empowerment is based on social, economic, political and participation in decision-making.
